It dates to the 1930s, and was made by A. R. Cole at what was then Rainbow Pottery in Sanford, North Carolina, later to become A. R. Cole Pottery. The stamp on the bottom RAINBOW POTTERY HAND MADE SANFORD N. C. dates it prior to 1941 from what I have learned, and I have found a few others of the same form definitively dated
